GRADUATION CELEBRATION FOR THIRD PROMOTION OF CCHS

Graduation is the culmination of a great deal of work and a celebration of achievement. WASCAL-CCHS is committed to making graduation an unforgettable experience.

Indeed, Climate Change and Human Security Graduation Ceremony takes place each time students completed the requirements of a Master degree. In addition, this year a great achievement Prize was also awarded; first ever recipient Dr. Honoris Causa Wilfried Kraus.

A graduation ceremony was organized at the University of Lomé for master students at the end of their training at the West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use – WASCAL. In the wake of the Honoris Causa distinction conferment to the leader of WASCAL, WASCAL celebrated the graduation celebration of students of Climate Change and Human Security in the presence of Dr. h. c. Wilfried Kraus, in WASCAL Hall at the Lomé University Campus on Friday, February 9, 2018.

 

These new graduates constitute the third class of 2016-2018 of the Master Research Program on Climate Change and Human Security (MRP-CCSH) of the University of Lomé, who studied during a 2 year period issues of climate change in West Africa and in the world. The students, ten in number, come from ten (10) countries in West Africa.

For the occasion, His Excellency Mr. Christoph Sander, German Ambassador to Togo, the representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Research, the President of the University of Lomé and his leading team, WASCAL Executive Director, The Directors of WASCAL Benin and Ghana, the Director of WASCAL Togo and several other speakers, in turn congratulated the success of the WASCAL Programme and urged the new graduates to let their spirit of excellence guide them in order to achieve the objectives targeted and thus the building of WASCAL in West Africa.

 

The WASCAL Programme in West Africa aims at identifying resilient and adaptive land-use systems to conserve or restore functional ecosystems for sustainable human development, which preserves the natural resources of these countries for current generations and future.

 

It is worth recalling that this program is funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research and comprises two sub-components: the Competence Center and the Training University Programmes.
